Ezra Jenkinson
I had difficulty finding information on this composer. The following "biography" is all I found...and I found it quoted exactly on a few different websites. I copied this entry from wikipedia.org, which I accessed August 1, 2016. You can find photos of him at america.pink. Please let me know if you're able to find anything more.
Ezra Jenkinson (*1872 in Todmorden, England; died 1947 also in Todmorden) was an English composer and violinist. His best known work, the Elves' Dance, makes extensive use of spiccato and is a show piece for intermediate beginners of the violin. According to the English author and artist William Holt, Jenkinson was given a grant by a local patron to study music in Leipzig, Germany in his youth. After seven years, he returned to his home town to live alone and avoided the public after selling the rights to his compositions he was amassing.
